چکیده

This paper describes the SFU entry for the TRECVid 2009 event detection challenge. We attempted to detect events involving either one or two individuals, and present algorithms for “running”, “embrace”, and “pointing” event detection. The system has three stages. First, preprocessing is performed to extract candidate space-time regions using background subtraction and photogrammetric context. These candidate regions are processed with specific event detection algorithms, utilizing motion for “running” and “embrace” and shape for “pointing”. A postprocessing step produces temporally localized responses for evaluation. The system is computationally efficient (0.2 seconds per frame) and achieved very good minimum DCR scores on the final evaluation.

SFU at TRECVid 2010: Surveillance Event Detection

This paper describes the SFU entry for the TRECVid 2010 surveillance event detection challenge. We focus on detecting the ”PresonRuns” event. The system has three stages. First, a pre-processing step is performed to extract moving candidate space-time regions using background subtraction, optical flow, and photogrammetric context. A short clip representation is constructed for each moving candi...

Toshiba at TRECVID 2008: Surveillance Event Detection Task

In this paper, we describe the Toshiba event detection system for TRECVID surveillance event detection task [1] that detects three TRECVID required events (E05:PersonRuns, E19:ElevatorNoEntry, and E20:OpposingFlow). Our system (“Toshiba_1 p-cohog_1”) consists of four components: (1) robust change detection based on the combination of pixel intensity histogram, PTESC (Peripheral TErnary Sign Cor...

TRECVID 2008 Event Detection By MCG-ICT-CAS*

As for Event Detection in TRECVID 2008, we develop a surveillance system with two parts, the trajectorybased sub-system and the domain knowledge-based sub-system. The former focuses on the research of general methods for event discovery. Human detection and tracking are utilized to generate the trajectory and then novel three-level trajectory features are proposed to detect PersonRuns, PeopleMe...

NHK STRL at TRECVID 2009: Surveillance Event Detection and High-Level Feature Extraction

NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories participated in two tasks at TRECVID 2009: surveillance event detection task and high level feature extraction task. For surveillance event detection tasks, we targeted four events: " P e r s o n R u n s " , " P e o p l e M e e t " , " O b j e c t P u t " , a n d "OpposingFlow". The proposed method detects human regions using HOG descriptor and S...

PKU-NEC @ TRECVid 2012 SED: Uneven-Sequence Based Event Detection in Surveillance Video

In this paper, we describe our system for interactive and retrospective surveillance event detection task in TRECVid 2012. We focus on pair-wise events (e.g., PeopleMeet, PeopleSplitUp, Embrace) that need to explore the relationship between two active persons, and action-like events (e.g. ObjectPut, CellToEar, PersonRuns and Pointing) that need to find the happenings of a person's action. Our t...
